BOIN TABURET Covered pot with gilt mount (silver 1st title 950‰, gilt), of baluster form adorned with a green colored crystal, engraved with ribs and garlands enhanced with gilt. Fitted with two acanthus leaf handles. The foot and the edge are chiseled with foliage, removable lid topped by an acorn on a terrace of large leaves. Signed, hallmark of Georges BOIN and numbered 13966-3. Circa 1880. Wear to the gilding. Height : 23,50 cm Gross weight 778 g Georges BOIN was born in 1849 into a family of antique dealers and jewelers. His grandfather Jacques BOIN managed in 1804 the "Escalier de Cristal" of Mrs. DESARNAUD. They became known for their crystal objects mounted on bronze. Georges BOIN began his career as a goldsmith and then joined forces with the jeweler Emile TABURET in 1860. The company, founded under their two names, became famous for its jewelry and display items. Émile TABURET and Georges BOIN worked together until 1900, when BOIN joined forces with the goldsmith HENRY, under the company name "BOIN et HENRY orfèvres".
