Astonishing bronze microscope under a globe - Lot 506
Astonishing bronze microscope under a globe The special feature of this model is that it is mounted on a wooden deck (containing a trapdoor for accessories) shaped to fit a globe. Achromatic microscope with magnifying glass, forceps, sample holder with lens and mirror All mounts in bronze or steel The instrument is unsigned, but the body is similar to the Delabarre, Lommer, Passemant or Adams microscopes found in the Nachet collections at Berkley or the Science Museum in London, among others. The body slides with the tigese thanks to a ring that is adjusted via a screw. This original set-up is rarely found on microscopes, indicating that it was probably made by a master or craftsman. French work, circa 1780 H. (with globe) 40 cm
