Curious brass sundial resting on three bird legs The set is dated 1752 and decorated with a sun and moon in clouds. This sundial was probably a wedding present. German work, circa 1752 Diam. 17 cm - H. 16 cm (restorations) Note: The reverse side bears inscriptions in German that can be translated as: "I love beautiful rays, they make old foxes and young girls look and feel old". The front features a dial with Arabic numerals and various indications in German, such as "rise to the pole", "the svolckhen tribe simply gives up", "trace together all the time and so on". A phrase about love and the sun completes the inscriptions.
