Violin-type mobile telephone in mahogany and metal marked "S - Lot 293
Violin-type mobile telephone in mahogany and metal marked "Société industrielle des telephones" on a plate and on the horn handset. Circa 1904-1905 H. 27 cm (wear and missing earpiece) Note: This type of telephone, known as the SIT, was the first to have an on-hook/off-hook function. Its aesthetic form, using mahogany, allowed the telephone to come into living rooms, and the telephone became an object of art or curiosity, as users didn't always know how to use it.
