Violin-type mobile telephone in mahogany and metal marked "S - Lot 293
Violin-type mobile telephone in mahogany and metal marked "Société industrielle des telephones" on a plate and on the horn handset. Circa 1904-1905. Height: 27 cm (wear and missing earpiece). Note: this type of telephone, known as the SIT, was the first to have an on-hook/off-hook function. Its aesthetic mahogany shape brought the telephone into living rooms, and it became an object of art or curiosity, as users didn't always know how to use it.
