Cribbage board, made from walrus tusk, decorated with polar - Lot 213
Cribbage board, made from walrus tusk, decorated with polar bear and seal attack on the ice floe American work, 19th century L. 44 cm Note: Cribbage is an English card game invented in 1630, and quickly became the only legal card game in Great Britain and the colonies (notably the U.S.). The game can be played with 52 cards and the aim is to reach 121 points. To count the points, a table was created, called a crib board. This is a board with two or three rows of 120 holes (divided into rows of 90 holes) and one hole (the winning hole).
