Onésime DUMAS (1824-1889) Brass marine chronometer The device is marked "DUMAS Sr DE GANNERY" on the dial and bears the number 133. The hands are blued steel for the seconds, hours and minutes, and gold for the reserve. Two-day chronometer, power reserve at twelve o'clock. Undecorated platinum movement, fusee with chain, ... racket key Mahogany case with brass plates, glass, locking system, and spring dial suspension. The number plate is in ivory engraved with the number 133. Bears a Le Havre revision label dated January 17, 1879. Circa 1860-1870 17 x 17 x 15 cm (mechanism to be overhauled) Object containing ivory, CIC obtained on 07/01/2026. For an exit from the EU, a CITES of re-export will be necessary and with the load of the purchaser. Note: Nephew of Henri Motel, Onésime Dumas (1824-1889) trained with Perrelet and Charles Auguste Berthoud. For almost three years, he worked for his uncle, in charge of finishing operations, escapement manufacture, blanks, fuses and keys. In 1851, he took over from Gannery at St Nicolas. He was the first in France to manufacture chronometers with a caliber close to that of the English. He exhibited chronometers at the 1857 Paris Exhibition.
