Jacques GAUTIER d'AGOTY (1717-1785), after Paradise Lost Anatomical chromium plate from "Anatomie Générale des viscères en situation, de grandeur et couleur naturelle, avec l'angiologie et la neurologie de chaque partie du Corps humain", Paris This plate, depicting the female circulatory system, is the second plate in the book. Circa 1752-1754 71.5 x 49.5 cm Note: This plate is described by Mr. Mertrud, King's Surgeon and Royal Demonstrator. For example, he explains the leaning character of the body to "better uncover the bottom of the pelvis, and give more grace to the Figure". Every muscle, organ and vein is described. Various copies of the work exist, including one in the U.S. National Library of Medicine and in the Bibliothèque de l'École de médecine de Paris.
