19th century MANUSCRIT - FRANCE and VENEZUELA - Ratifications by His Majesty the Emperor of the French of the Consular Convention concluded on October 22, 1856 between France and the Republic of Venezuela. Half red bas. folio, gilt title on spine (Period binding). Manuscript with 16 carefully calligraphed pages, including the title. The text in French and Spanish presents 16 articles detailing the statutes and missions of the consuls. The ratifications bear the names of Léonce Levraud and Jacinto Gutierrez. The consular convention is "Fait et arrêté en double original dans cette ville de Caracas , le vingt quatre octobre de l'année de notre Seigneur mil huit cent cinquante six." Enclosed: -CERTIFICATE MANUSCRIT in- 4 oblong signed by José Fadeo Monagas, President of the Republic of Venezuela attesting to the appointment of the French consul in Caracas, dated February 3, 1857 countersigned by the Secretary of External Relations. Stamp. -Autograph letter in English, one and a half pages in-8. Lima, February 9, 1855. From the English chargé d'affaires of the British Legation to the French chargé d'affaires Monsieur Levrault. Letter of thanks for his intervention in putting an end to a series of insulting articles published in Lima. Enclosed copy translating the text. - One-page in-8 letter from the Ministère de l'Instruction Publique et des Beaux Arts. Relating to an order that cannot be fulfilled. "I have the honor of informing you that the credits made available to my services for work of this nature are currently exhausted. "
