Tapestries from the LANGLOIS manufacture - Lot 1
Tapestries from the LANGLOIS manufacture This collection comes from the Langlois factory in Blois, active for 5 generations, with prestigious references such as Clos Lucé. In 1912, Robert Langlois built up a collection of antique tapestries and developed the restoration activity with a staff later accredited by Monuments Historiques. The protection of the Belgian royal family opens up a large number of exports to the United States, England, Switzerland and Holland. These are replicas or copies of tapestries based on antique models, sold as such, finished or to be finished, from different periods, but often in the taste of the late 17th century, particularly that of the so-called "bizarre" textiles, i.e., designs with heterogeneous motifs of Far Eastern influence, much appreciated under Louis XIV.
