Rare self-winding clock in finely chased or knurled bronze, - Lot 96
Rare self-winding clock in finely chased or knurled bronze, with antique patina and matte gold gilding; the pendulum is adorned with a statuette holding vine branches and flanked by two snakes. The circular case is supported by four stilt-walkers with curved necks and rests on a quadrangular entablature supported by bracket feet with busts of Egyptian women wearing nemeses; rectangular base with side recesses highlighted by alternating friezes of palmettes and fleurons; small claw feet. The white enamelled circular dial shows the hours in Arabic numerals, the minute graduations on the outer edge and the date; it is flanked by two female figures with articulated arms marking the striking of the day and night hours.
