Model of Buzz Aldrin's boot print - Lot 128
Model of Buzz Aldrin's boot print For the 20th anniversary of the Apollo mission in 1989, the Cité des Science invited the astronaut to talk to children. For the occasion, a print was created by the vendor and autographed by the astronaut. This is the print we're presenting, along with a replica of the commemorative plaque left on the leg of the Eagle Lunar Module, the 20-year pin and Buzz Aldrin's signature written in glitter felt-tip on the Altuglass. An Apollo 11 mission badge is included. D. 20 x 14,20 x 2,5 cm NOTE: Buzz Aldrin (b. 1930) American astronaut since 1962. He remains famous for his participation in the Gemini 12 mission (where he performed a spacewalk), but mainly for his involvement in the Apollo 11 mission (with Neil Armstrong and Michael Collins). After the launch on July 16, 1969, his name became legendary. As lunar module pilot, he was in charge of the module's descent to the Moon. On site, he was the only person to organize a religious ceremony and, above all, the second person to set foot on the Moon (after Armstrong). The photograph of him standing next to the American flag went around the world, and most of the Apollo 11 astronaut photos feature Buzz Aldrin. Since September 1969, Buzz Aldrin has continued to give lectures and speeches, and was a test pilot in the US Air Force following the Apollo mission. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films and TV series. Toy Story's hero Buzz Lightyear is directly inspired by Buzz Aldrin. Last month, he celebrated his 95th birthday.
