The N1 lunar program was a secret Soviet program developed to stay one step ahead of the Americans. Unfortunately, with the success of the Apollo program, the N1 program was classified and buried. The Soviets had several lunar programs in competition with Apollo. Their N1 rocket was transported horizontally before being erected on the launch pad. All 4 launches were failures. After the project was officially abandoned, orders were given to destroy and scrap all traces of what had been achieved. It wasn't until the glasnost era of the late 1980s that some information began to appear on the subject, and it wasn't until the fall of the USSR that the files were fully opened. The author of these two models has brought together all his knowledge, information gathered during several visits to Russia and his own skills as a model-maker to create these two models (one of which can be handled) representing the transport and erection vehicle for the N1 launcher (105 m high) and its launch pad.
