[Lyon: Jacques Giunta], 1531. - 2 works in one volume in-8, speckled brown basane, cold-stamped fillets framing the boards, ribbed spine, speckled edges (17th-century binding). Set of two works by the Italian Bolognese judge Ippolito Marsili (1451-1529), in Lyon Gothic printing. The first work, dealing with criminal matters, was printed by Jacques Myt for the bookseller Vincent de Portonariis, whose fine mark appears on the title. This is the author's last work, the fruit of his long experience as a teacher, lawyer and judge. It comprises two parts, the second of which, with its own title and pagination, is the book's alphabetical index. Following this is a new edition printed by Giunta of the same author's "Solemnis et pene divini". It features a handsome title illustrated with a woodcut vignette of Marsili in front of his students, repeated on the recto of leaves xxvij and xciiij. Copy in 17th-century binding. Cracking to spine, wear rubbing, restorations to corners and endpapers. Some worm damage to text, ink stain on cliij leaf, top margin a little short, with damage to some running titles. Staining, especially on the last 40 leaves. Provenance: J.B. Colbert de Beaulieu, with bookplate. - J.J. Olinger, with bookplate. - Jean Stefgen, with bookplate.
