Louis MALTESTE was a French draughtsman and illustrator. He began his career in the 1890s working for L'Illustration. He went on to draw for a number of magazines, including L'Estampe Moderne, La Plume, L'Assiette au Beurre, le Chat noir, Frou-Frou, La Caricature and others. He also produced numerous posters for advertising and cinema (Absinthe parisienne, Les Misérables...). He regularly publishes erotic novels under the pen name Jacques d'Icy.

This Feydeau play was presented at the Théâtre Marigny in September 1971 and broadcast on television in 1972. The actors who wore the costumes were: Aimé Jean (a commissioner), Jean-Pierre Darras (Massenay) and Alfred Adam (Chanal).
