He graduated from the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Appliqués in Paris, and then put his talents to work for Etablissements Damon, a stained-glass workshop created by Louis Damon in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Over the course of his career, Virot created numerous stained glass cartons for religious buildings, restaurants, apartment blocks and institutions such as the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée. In the 1940s, he turned his attention to designing furniture and lighting in the purest Art Deco style.
