Third edition, dedicated to the Grand Duke of Florence and Siena, of this work by Florentine writer and historian Lodovico Guicciardini (1521-1589). In three parts, the author recounts the most memorable things that happened in Europe, mainly in the Netherlands, from the peace of Cambrai in 1529 to 1560. The two previous editions appeared in 1565, in Venice and Antwerp. A good copy in 18th-century Italian binding. Enriched with numerous handwritten notes in the margins by a 16th-century Italian reader. Few traces of light wetness, scattered foxing. Restoration to the lower corner of folio A2, with damage to one word. The handwritten notes have been slightly cut by the binder. Provenance: Le Gonidec de Traissan, with 19th-century bookplate.
