Rare pewter OIL CLOCK with median-knot shaft and rings, wide bowl-moulded pedestal, fitted with two hinged flap spouts containing their sheet-iron burner and a ribbed blown-glass reserve encircled by a graduated hour band with grip ring.
Hallmark: eagle with columns / COMMVN
Early 18th century
Height: 36.5 cm
How it works: the oil level drops as it burns, and the hour is indicated on the graduated hour band.
