Original edition according to Tchemerzine, third edition according to Adams, and first printing, containing the imposition errors. Frontispiece in the style of Eisen: La Vérité arrachant son masque au Mensonge. The work was composed in four days, with the proceeds going to help a friend in need. It was condemned to the fire by a decision of the Parlement on July 7, 1746. A wide-margined copy in a coarse modern pamphlet. Without the blank pages. Enclosed: VOLTAIRE. La Pucelle d'Orléans. Louvain (Francfort ?), 1755. In -12 cart. First edition, one of the first two published, described by Bengesco.
