London, 18th century Length: 45 - Height: 50 cm Note: George Sterrop was the son of Thomas Sterrop, manufacturer of stage sets. On his father's death, George took over the family business, specializing in optical instruments. After an apprenticeship with his mother, he went into business for himself in 1730, and from 1747 to 1756, George went into partnership with her; the company became Mary Sterrop & Son.
