L. plate : 26 cm - L. dish : 44 cm - L. bowl : 13 cm The sculptor-ceramist Pol CHAMBOST is a graduate of the School of Applied Arts in Industry. In the early 1930s, he founded a ceramics workshop in Ivry-sur-Seine, specializing in funerary art and decorative earthenware. He created pieces for department stores in the 1940s and took part in the post-war revival of art shows. He drew inspiration from Picasso and Braque in both line and form. This was the period of joint research with Paul Pouchol and Georges Jouve. His attraction to the arts of the table and his sensitivity as a sculptor make him an interpreter of forms that are both free and useful, playing on materials and contrasts. His work illustrates the "1950s style" in France.
