Louis Charles VAUGARNI (1865-1953) - Lot 106
Louis Charles VAUGARNI (1865-1953) Set of drawings, pencil or watercolor studies Biography : Louis Charles VAUGARNI was born in Ajaccio in 1865 and lived alone with his celibate mother. His mother had psychological problems, so he was placed with the Jesuits and received a religious education. During the First World War, he became a soldier and was taken prisoner at Les Bruyères. He drew the life of the camp: military landscapes, portraits and caricatures of soldiers. After the war, Louis Charles travelled around France, especially in Brittany, and painted many landscapes. Through his numerous annotations and descriptions, he localized and commented his works in a humorous and personal way.
