M. CANABATE "Pierrot", project of costume about 1915-1925 Pencil, watercolor and gouache on cardboard signed lower right "M. Canabate 37 x 24,5 cm (stains, tears) M. CANABATE was active in the same years as the famous draftsman Charles GESMAR (1900-1928). The latter began to draw Mistinguett's costumes in 1916, until her death, as well as many other costume projects (for Maurice Chevalier, Barbette, Raimu, Jane Pierly, Yvonne Legeay...) and theater and music hall posters for the Alhambra, Le Moulin Rouge, etc. The two artists collaborated for the play "Laisse les tomber !" by Georges Arnould and Jacques-Charles presented at the Casino de Paris in 1917. We join there Anonymous "Carnival of Venice", costume project Watercolor, gouache and ink on cardboard, illegible signature on a tape at the bottom right 40,5 x 31,5 cm
