School of the XIXth century "Let us all love each other as brothers" Watercolor and pencil on paper annotated "ERE VULGAIRE 5815 O.GUERRE" 24,5 x 19 cm Note: This drawing represents a temple between two columns topped by a star adorned with the letter C and a candle on the ground. The date 5815 of the Masonic calendar corresponds to the year 1815, date of the foundation of the lodge 'Les Emules d'Harpocrate' renamed in 1827 'Les Philonomes'. It is joined : MACONIC CODE Framed engraving, signed " Lith: Dubois Alexandre 14 rue de la Verrerie ". 24 x 32 cm Note : This 19th century Masonic code presents the good manners of a Freemason, the good behaviors to adopt especially for the education of children. The code is surmounted by the beehive, symbol of the lodge, and framed by a border of acacia leaves with in the corners the symbols of Freemasonry (hammer, square, compass, trowel, triangle with a starred G).
