Hemisphere from Magdeburg. Composed of two... - Lot 149 - Euvrard & Fabre
Hemisphere from Magdeburg. Composed of two hollow metal half-spheres, one of which is equipped with a valve allowing the system to be aimed at a vacuum pump. Initially the two hemispheres can be disassembled. When the two hemispheres are placed together and the vacuum machine is activated, the area in the sphere created is reduced. Thus, by closing the tap, it is almost impossible to separate the two parts. By opening the valve, the area is filled with the two parts that can be separated. Thus, we realize the experiment of 1654 of Otto Von Guericke, burgomaster of Magdeburg, allowing to put in evidence the vacuum and the atmospheric pressure. Presence of a mark erased. Dim: 12 x 13 cm each part.
