Gregorian telescope on wood screw stand. The brass body is covered with embossed leatherette with knot decoration. The tripod stand has the particularity of having a wood screw which allows to make measurements outside by fixing the stand on a stump for example. Sunglass in addition to the two mirrors all in perfect condition. Missing an ear to a butterfly screw (repairable) Period XVIIIth century Length 43 - Height 34 cm The Gregorian telescope is composed of two concave mirrors: a primary and a secondary. The primary mirror focuses the light in front of the secondary mirror which reflects the image towards a hole in the center of the primary mirror. This hole allows the observation with a Galileo telescope. Developed by Jules Gregory from 1663 and 1673, this type of telescope is still used in large telescopes such as Arecibo or Magellan.
