RARE FIRST EDITION. Title in red and black in gothic characters with a grotesque face lettering at the beginning of the title xylographed in red on two lines. This work published in the aftermath of the Camp du Drap d'or is dedicated to Louise de Savoie, mother of François I; it traces the origins of the peoples of Flanders, Artois and Hainaut since the baptism of Clovis. The illustration includes four large woodcuts: Charles VIII's entry into Naples, the author at his writing table and two battle and siege scenes. The small in-text woodcuts evoke the baptism of Clovis and represent King Philip Augustus, Louis XI Old handwritten annotation after the colophon. Incomplete with blank leaves. Some marginal wetnesses.
