Paris, l'abbé de La Chau, l'abbé Le Blond, Pissot (impr. de Prault [- impr. de Monsieur]), 1780-1784; 2 vol.in-folio, half maroon green chag. with corners, titles and dates gilt on the spines with gilt and ornamented nerves (period worn binding). Copy on laid paper. Unique edition due to the abbés de La Chau (1750-?) and Le Blond (1738-1809), respectively librarian, secretary and guard of the cabinet of engraved stones of the duke of Orleans, curator of the Mazarine Library, with the collaboration of the abbé François Arnaud (1721-1784) for t. Illustration engraved by Augustin de Saint-Aubin: frontispiece after Cochin, repeated title vignette, 2 historiated bands (after Cochin in vol. I), 179 etchings with cameos and 55 culs-de-lampe. Without the 7 plates of 37 spintrian medals (tokens used to pay prostitutes or the entrance to lupanars) which are often missing. Some foxing. Significant angular spotting to the volume of plates.
