André HELLE (1871 - 1945) THE POET AND THE FISHER Ink and collage signed lower left and captioned: -Mr. Fisherman having no more verses, borrowed two from his neighbour the poet 22 x 22 cm André Hellé had more than one string to his bow, he exhibited at the Salons from 1905, created theatre and costume sets, illustrated a multitude of books and was a member of the Humorists, he published his drawings in the best magazines of his time: the Pêle-Mêle, the Rire, the Caricature, the Sourire, the Frou-frou, the Assiette au beurre, the amusing newspaper, la Vie parisienne... He finally created a workshop of cut-out toys in the 1920s.
