ORIGINAL EDITION of this work divided into two parts, the first part consisting of a speech on the motto of Louis XIV, the second part forming a catalogue of several hundred explained mottos entitled "Le monde entier à la gloire du roi" (The whole world to the glory of the king). Illustrations engraved on copper in the text, some by Étienne Gantrel after Pierre-Paul Sevin, including a large banner showing the Academicians gathered around a table, a lettering and 4 representations of medals. An old manuscript ex-libris on the title. Without the frontispiece. Dirt and wetness.
