FREUDEBERG (S.) and MOREAU le JEUNE (J.-M.). Monuments of the Costume. Prints of Freudeberg [- by Moreau the Younger] for the Monument of the Costume engraved by Dubouchet. Paris, Louis Conquet, 1883; in-4, Bradel, mar. bleu-nuit, décor de petites rosaces mos. interlacés sur les fil. d'encadrement sur le dos et les plats, non trigné, couv. (V. Champs). Complete suite of the 36 etchings composing the 3 suites of the "Monument du costume", engraved in reduced format after the original prints by Sigmund Freudeberg (1st suite of prints, 12 etchings) and Jean-Michel Moreau (2nd and 3rd suites, 24 etchings) by Dubouchet. Preceded by an engraved portrait of Freudeberg and an illustrated title, the first contains an unpublished notice by John Grand-Carteret (xvii pp.). The second, illustrated with an engraved portrait of Moreau and an illustrated title, contains an introduction by Burty. Both are followed by a speech and the engraved table of engravings (2 and 4 ff.). The engravings are protected by snakes captioned with a poem and accompanied by a text, 2 to 4 pages long, engraved on copper by L. Smith. The introductory ff. are paginated and the table ff. are foliated afterwards. The justification sheets are also engraved. Title in 370 numbered copies; the one numbered H 11 enriched with an autograph signed copy from the publisher contains the pure etching and the final state of the illustrations.
