Rudy MÉMIN (December 1930 – January 2026) - Lot 361
Rudy MÉMIN (December 1930 – January 2026) A useless metal machine Created by its inventor to emit light With a wooden base and an on/off switch H. 19.5 cm - W. 13 cm - D. 13 cm Note: Rudy Memin enjoyed creating “useless machines” to demonstrate that one can create or own things without any practical purpose. An object does not necessarily have a specific function, but can still be beautiful or interesting even if it serves no practical purpose. To that end, these useless machines demonstrate this very point. For this machine, the inventor created an aesthetically pleasing design—resembling a turbine or steam engine—with numerous decorative details, yet serving no specific purpose other than to emit a small light. The machine is purely aesthetic.
