This meteorite has a fresh and bright fusion crust with orientation marks, signs of its entry into our atmosphere. It was following a very large impact on Mars that a Martian rock was ejected to fall on our planet after a very long stay of several million years in space.
This Martian rock that fell in the Sahara Desert was identified and analyzed, and then officially declared as a Martian meteorite under the name North West Africa 4880.
