The Atacama Desert has proved over the last ten years or so to be an ideal place to look for meteorites. This desert considered as the most arid in the world is ideal for the preservation of the meteorites that fall there. The proposed meteorite is of the H chondrite type and a cut on one end reveals its interior. It has the patina of a typical desert, the black fusion crust has turned brown as a result of alteration during its long stay on Earth, which can easily be estimated at thousands of years since its fall on our planet.
