Shatter cone proposed with a beautiful ponytail structure measuring 180 mm high, 120 mm wide, 90 mm thick and 2.4 kg.
Superb shatter cone, from an old collection, presenting the so-called percussion cones (also ponytail structure). These characteristic marks are the result of a mega meteorite impact (in the form of an asteroid) whose crater, now largely eroded, is located in the Limousin. More than 200 million years ago, an asteroid several kilometres in diameter hit our planet in this region. The shatter cones are the witnesses of this event which was a real local cataclysm.
