Officer's breastplate for cuirassier model 1812-15 Steel breastplate composed of a backrest and a breastplate. Breast plate lined with 32 brass nails. Polished steel backrest edged with 30 brass nails, trimmed at the top with two embossed brass lion heads (one on each shoulder) in relief to which are attached the straps in red velvet embroidered with silver braid covered with a double brass chain with interlaced round rings with lock covered with embossed lion heads (one loose, the second is missing) in relief. It is finished by a leather paw covered with red Moroccan embroidered with a silver braid in the shape of heart. In the bottom a red Moroccan leather belt embroidered with fine silver. The interior is trimmed with a red fabric with pocket on the breastplate, the same on the back which has a label on which is written "Monsieur le Comte de Villefranche". See reproduction
